Free tools that
respect your intelligence
1gb.icu exists to give you transparent, accurate, and genuinely useful financial calculators—without paywalls, signup walls, or hidden agendas.
Our mission
Most financial calculators on the internet are broken in one of three ways. They're either (1) so simplistic they give you a number with no context—leaving you to figure out whether it's trustworthy; (2) hidden behind signup walls that demand your email before showing results; or (3) designed as lead-generation funnels that push you toward a specific lender, agent, or product regardless of whether it's right for you. We built 1gb.icu to fix all three problems.
Our mission is simple: give people free, transparent, well-documented tools to make better financial decisions. Every calculator on this site is built around three commitments. First, the math is documented in plain English—you can see exactly how each number is calculated and which formula is used. Second, every tool comes with substantial educational content explaining the why behind the math, real worked examples, and answers to the questions real people actually ask. Third, no signup, no email gate, no premium tier. You open a calculator, you use it, you leave. That's it.
What makes 1gb.icu different
Transparent methodology
Every calculator page includes a "How it works" section that walks through the actual formula in plain English. We cite the source of each formula—whether it's the IRS tax bracket table, the Mifflin-St Jeor equation for BMR, Fannie Mae's DTI guidelines, or the standard amortization formula. If we make an assumption (like a default PMI rate or a healthy BMI range), we state it openly. You should never have to wonder whether a calculator is using sound math or made-up numbers.
Real educational depth
A number alone is useless without context. That's why every calculator comes with a substantial "How it works" article (typically 500–700 words), a worked example showing the math applied to a realistic scenario, a glossary defining key terms, and 5+ frequently asked questions. We also publish 30+ in-depth guides (1,500–2,000 words each) covering the underlying topics—so when you use our mortgage calculator, you can also read a deep guide on how mortgages work, when to refinance, and how to compare loan offers.
Privacy by design
Unlike most financial websites, our calculators run entirely in your browser. The numbers you enter—your income, your debts, your home value, your net worth—never leave your device. They are not transmitted to our servers, not stored in a database, and not used to serve you targeted advertising. We don't know what you calculated, and we prefer it that way.
Our editorial standards
We treat financial content with the seriousness it deserves. Because much of what we publish falls into Google's "Your Money, Your Life" (YMYL) category—content that can affect a person's financial, physical, or emotional well-being—we hold ourselves to a high bar:
- Original content only. Every article is written from scratch by our editorial team. We do not scrape, spin, or paraphrase content from other websites.
- Primary source verification. When we cite tax brackets, visa requirements, mortgage rules, or insurance guidelines, we link to or reference the official source (IRS.gov, USCIS.gov, Fannie Mae, etc.).
- Regular updates. Tax brackets change annually. Visa rules change frequently. We update affected calculators and articles as rules change.
- Clear disclaimers. Every page on this site makes clear that the content is educational and not professional advice. We want you to use our tools as a starting point, then verify with a qualified professional before making major decisions.
- No hidden affiliate bias. We do not currently accept paid placements or affiliate commissions that affect our editorial content. If this changes, we will disclose it openly.
Who we are
1gb.icu is operated by a small team of writers, financial professionals, and engineers who have spent careers working in finance, real estate, technology, and journalism. We've seen firsthand how confusing and intimidating financial decisions can be—whether you're buying your first home, applying for a business loan, navigating the US immigration system, or just trying to figure out whether you're saving enough for retirement.
We don't claim to be the final authority on anything we cover. What we do claim is that we'll show our work, document our sources, and update our content when we're wrong. If you spot an error or have a suggestion, please contact us—we read every message.
How we fund this site
1gb.icu is free to use, and we intend to keep it that way. We fund the site through display advertising served by Google AdSense. Ads are clearly distinguished from editorial content, and we do not let advertisers influence what we publish or how we rate any product. We do not currently accept sponsored content, affiliate links that affect editorial recommendations, or paid placements.
If we ever change this model, we will disclose it transparently in our Disclaimer and on this page.
How to use this site
The best way to use 1gb.icu is to start with the calculator that matches your question—whether that's "How much is my home worth?" or "Can I afford this business loan?" or "How much life insurance do I need?" Run the calculator with your actual numbers, then read the "How it works" section to understand what the result means. If you want to go deeper, read the related guides we link to from each calculator page.
Use our calculators as a starting point, not a finish line. Then verify the result with a qualified professional before making a major decision. We've built these tools to give you a head start—not to replace the advice of someone who can look at your full financial picture.
